Hey Guys & Gals

I figure that since I have plenty to say about Apple products and iPod related news in particular why not let you privileged few into a less discussed subject. My musical tastes and suggestion.

So from now on i’ll be doing a little blog categorie entitled “myTunes”.

Here i’ll be able to link you directly to my favourite artists and albums… and every week i’ll have my top pick from the iTunes Store.

Hopefully some of you may even enjoy the music that i pick out. I think music helps us define who we are so why not help other people find out something new about themselves. I hope you enjoy reading these little segments as much as i will making them.

Taken by a pal of mine who has a very successful YouTube Channel now with over 1000 subscribers.

The point i’m trying to make other than feeding my hunger for more snaps of this little gizmo in the wild, is the fact

that it no longer seems to mean much when you pre-order items from the Apple Store seeing as these iPod Touch’s have been in US

Apple Stores and Even Best Buys for well over a week now. And they have even started stocking them in the UK stores. Whats even worse

is that fact that tomorrow my local Apple Reseller will have them… and that saying something, considering it took them 2 full weeks to get any new iPod Nano’s.

So i’m a little disappointed but what can I do? Nothing is the answer… unless i were to buy one and then return the one that was delivered but

that would require time and logistical coordination for which i have little time for after work.

Never mind… at least mine wont have any screen issues… fingers crossed.

Here’s what i came up with. I’d love to know what you guys and gals think.

The US has had the iPod Touch in stock in most of the Apple Retail stores and now even Best Buys for over a week now.

And us poor folks in the UK have seen nothing of this little beauty except in select Apple stores in the UK which are very few and very far apart. Unless you live in central London.

The main reason that im a little ticked off today is that fact that i woke up today to the sound of my estimated delivery date being moved back to the 4-5 of October. This is a big alteration from the original 1-2 of October considering that fact that the shipping date has stayed unaltered.

Im tempted to cancel my order and try to pick one up through a retail store this friday but cant be sure that i’ll get my hands on one.

So dark the con of man.

Design:

The 3rd generation of iPod Nano makes use of a full metal design. The front panel comes in a variety of five different colours and is made of up brushed aluminum. The back panel follows the same well known apple design as all of the previous iPod’s (classics). Shiny aluminum.

The hold switch is slightly redesigned and has been relocated to the bottom left of the player. The distance of the patented click wheel between the screen and the bottom of the iPod has been greatly reduced.

Screen:

The screens on the new nano’s have been increased to two inches. This makes for some uncomfortable viewing of long films like lord of the rings but its great for short music videos and even videos you’ve made using the new iMovie ’08. It has the highest resolution panel that apple has ever shipped in any of its products. Crystal clear viewing if not a little to small at times…

Interface:

Apple has completely redesigned the iPod interface making use of a mobile mac os x specifically designed and written for the new line of iPods. The well known iPod navigational controls are located on the left vertical half of the screen with the right side being filled with either a slide show of the material within the highlighted item or an image representing the menu item… somewhat reminiscent of the iPhone and now iPod Touch menu icons.

Performance:

The new iPod Nano seems to have a nippier response when navigating and turns off quicker than the previous generation. The only issue that I have had is the incomplete loading of the coverflow. This can be a little irritating at times but as long as you don’t scroll at more than about 10 album covers per second then you should be fine.

Overall thoughts: Apple hit the bulls eye once again. Great little piece of kit.
